Horseshoes and Bits
Welcome all, I hope you enjoy this ......(this page is still under construction)
Hello everyone, I am a senior at North Huron High School in Michigan, this fall I will be attending Michigan State University. I mainly created this page because I wanted to experiment with the internet but I also want to share my "adventures" in animal science with everyone. I am currently enrolled in a Advanced Sciece class and I have been doing disections on different animals all year. I have taken some pictures and found out some very intersting bits of information along the way. Below I describe 2 of my disections and if you want to see more pictures you can go to my gallary. I must warn you, some of the pictures are kinda gross so if you have a quezzy stomach you might not want to visit my gallary!

I know some of you may be thinking---gross but my cat tought me a lot about disection proceedures and anatomy. The hardest part was skinning the cat, but after that it was really cool because I got to see all of the muscles of the cat. I was amazed, I never knew that a cat had that many different muscles! After examining the muscles I looked at the lungs and heart and then at the liver and intestines. Using my labratory manual I was able to identify many different body parts of the cat. After looking at that I cut open the skull and took out the brain to look at-it was so cool! Some of you may be thinking right now that I am a very sick perosn (as did many of the people in my school). But I plan on becoming a vet so stuff like this doesn't bother me and is infact benificial to me.

Peter Rabbit in a different way.....
My next project was to dissect a pregnant rabbit. I first skinned the rabbit and examined the muscles. Next I opened up the body and examined the organs. Because the rabbit was pregnant I opened up the womb and found 5 fetuses about 25 days along (gestation period is 29-32 days). It was amazing at how small the fetuses were, only about 2.5 inches long!
